4 Steps to Caring for Silkette ™ Bamboo Silk Rugs
Silkette ™ is a trademarked name for the silk-like viscose yarns made from bamboo used within some of the rugs we carry, also known as bamboo silk. Some Silkette ™ rugs are entirely made of Silkette ™ while others are made of both premium wool and Silkette ™ known as the “Elements” collection.
Because it has the look and feel of silk, but is more readily available, the costs of Silkette ™ rugs are more affordable.
“Silkette and wool-Silkette rugs have a unique luster and soft quality about them that makes them outstanding. They are not only beautiful to look at but they are also unusually soft to the touch and soft underfoot,” said Ariel Kalaty, a company spokesperson for the brand producing Silkette. “The use of Silkette or a combination of premium wool and Silkette for many of our latest rug collections has helped us to make new inroads into color, design and price opportunities. We are experiencing a great response to all of these collections from our dealers as well as from designers and consumers.”
Follow these four steps to best protect your Silkette ™ rugs.
- These types of rugs are best kept in areas with little to no moisture; bedrooms, living rooms, family rooms, and hallways.
- Vacuum often with best results coming from no beater bar or powerhead attachments. Do not vacuum rug fringes. Vacuum in the direction of the nap.
- For any liquid spills, use a white towel and blot up the spill immediately. Blot only. Do not rub, because doing so pushes liquids deeper into rug fibers and causes a stain. Call your rug experts for further instructions.
- When cleaning is required use a qualified professional. The fibers in these rugs are luxurious, but also must be handled by a professional in order to keep it’s beauty and avoid staining.
Additional Tips To Lengthen the Life of Your Bamboo Silk Rug
Rotate Frequently
This will equalize any effects sunlight may have on your rug. By using most standard window treatments you can minimize sun exposure and thus helping to protect your rugs.
Use a Rug Pad
A quality rug pad is always a good idea because the pad will help reduce wear, especially in high traffic areas. A rug pad not only protects your rug investment but it also protects your floors as well as the safety of guests, friends and family who will be walking on your rugs.
