Cleaning solutions you can make yourself.
Use the following five solutions with a white absorbent cloth or tissue.
Detergent Solution
Mix 1-teaspoon of clear, mild liquid dishwashing detergent with 1-cup of lukewarm water.
Ammonia Solution
Mix 1-tablespoon of household ammonia with 1/2 – cup of warm water. (Refrain from a stronger ammonia solution on wool carpet.)
Vinegar Solution
Mix 1/3 cup of white, household vinegar with the 2/3 cup of water.
Enzyme Detergent
Commercial enzyme detergent such as Bac Out
Dry Cleaning Solvent
Commercial volatile dry spotter such as Energine.
Recommended Procedure
Test the solution on a small, inconspicuous area, then tackle the stain by working from the outer edge towards the center and blot, don’t rub. The final spot removal step is always to gently rinse the area with water and then absorb all the remaining moisture with absorbent towels. When finished, place a 1/2 inch pad of white, absorbent paper towels over affected area and weigh down with a flat, heavy object. Change absorbent pad until transfer of spilled substance or residue is no longer visible on absorbent pad.
